Impossible Foods

Impossible Foods was founded in 2011 by Patrick O. Brown, M.D., Ph.D. to make our global food system truly sustainable. Our goal is to eliminate the need to use animals to make food. Instead, we make meat directly from plants.

We started with a simple question: “What makes meat taste like meat?” After five years of research, and some fundamental discoveries along the way, we built our food technology platform and launched our first product, the Impossible Burger.

Since launching the Impossible™ Burger in 2016, it has been added on menu at over 5,000 restaurant locations across the United States.
